Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information for International Students:

International Student Services (ISS) is now working remotely during our regular business hours: Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm ET. Please email [email protected] to reach us. Given rapidly changing COVID-19 developments, travel of any sort is not recommended at this time. Visit Travel and Entering the US for current COVID-related Travel Advisories. Please consult the ISS Newsletter for other time-sensitive items like Practical Training and extensions of stay if you need more time to complete your program. Be sure to consult the ISS Information Sessions & Event Calendar for the full schedule of important immigration-related sessions, and check out our Events page for descriptions of exciting upcoming ISS events. We appreciate what a new day this is for everyone and look forward to offering our support in this virtual environment.

Please visit fitnyc.edu/restart for the latest fall 2020 developments.

International students should contact International Student Services with additional questions.

International Student Services assists all nonimmigrant students admitted to FIT degree programs in matters pertaining to their immigration status in the U.S.

Prospective international students can find general immigration advice in the International FAQ. For information on academic offerings, requirements, admissions eligibility, and transfer credit guidelines, visit Admissions or contact the FIT Admissions office at (212) 217-3760.

All admitted students with questions concerning the F-1 Visa, Travel and Entering the US, F-1 Status and Transferring F-1 Status, as well as information on F-1 Employment Options, should click on the appropriate link in our navigation.

Mandatory Orientation

All admitted F-1 students are required to attend the International Student Orientation at the beginning of their first term in an FIT degree program. It is recommended that other nonimmigrant students also attend this discussion of terms and conditions of F-1 status. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) holds all nonimmigrants responsible for observing the regulations affecting their status.
